How do I keep the Butterfly patch from getting wet when I urinate? (for women)
Make sure you’ve got the ‘Long Wings’ facing up towards your back, and the absorbent core gently touching your anus. If that doesn’t do the trick, consider either trying a smaller size or removing the Butterfly patch before you urinate.
When Butterfly patches are placed correctly, the center of the Butterfly patch should touch your anus. The adhesive should gently cling to your skin. The ‘Long Wings’ should face upward for easy, hygienic removal. The ‘Short Wings’ should be out of the way of your stream of urine.
Will I get used to the feeling of wearing a Butterfly patch?
At first, you may find the feeling of something in between your buttocks unusual. But hang in there. When placed correctly, the Butterfly patch should feel comfortable. If it’s not, be sure to check that you have the center of the Butterfly patch tucked all the way up between your buttocks with its absorbent core touching your anus and the adhesive gently adhered to your skin.
Are Butterfly patches flushable?
No, Butterfly patches are not safe to flush and they are not septic-safe. Please dispose in the trash.
Does the Butterfly patch have to be adhered to me?
Yes. Some people worry the adhesive touching their skin will feel uncomfortable but actually, the opposite is true. The Butterfly patch is most comfortable and effective when gently adhered to your skin so it doesn’t move or bunch up.
Do I wear the Butterfly patch adhered to my underwear?
No. The Butterfly patch is made to be tucked up between your cheeks with its absorbent core gently touching your anus. This puts the protection right where the problem is, absorbing minor bowel leakage and helping neutralize odors.

Let's talk specifics. Did you know that adults pass an average of 1 cup (8 ounces or 237 ml) of urine at a time?
Kids are different - there's a calculation based on their age. Look for the "Urine Output Calculation" section to learn more.
For adults, 1 cup is what's considered a 'full' pee (or, 'void' if you prefer).
When shopping for incontinence products, there are three ways of looking at a person's absorbency needs:
- How quickly does the product absorb?
- How much does it hold: drips, leaks, a full void, or multiple voids?
- How dry does it stay?

Slight protection refers to products including disposable panty liners or men's shields that adhere to underwear. They have the capacity to absorb and hold up to 8 ounces (1 cup or 237ml) of bladder leakage over the course of a day (think occasional drips or dribbles).

Light protection products include more absorbent pads or liners that adhere to underwear and some disposable protective underwear. These products can absorb and hold up to 16 ounces (2 cups or 474ml) of bladder leakage.
